7th Grade Art
This semester you will be working to develop a strong understanding of three-dimensional art. You will be working with elements and principles of design, researching artists, using a variety of art themes, experimenting with materials, and working towards mastery of materials you have used before.
Projects may be turned in for a grade at any time but must be submitted by the final turn in date for use on progress reports and report cards. Projects can be reworked and resubmitted at any point prior to the final turn in date.
If you complete projects early it is expected that you continue to work on art. Your primary option for free work will be to create a small project using our current materials in a new way or using one of the alternate material options.
However one of your projects is unique in that you will be working in small groups. The final project, a sculpture for the sculpture garden, is the group project. It is expected that everyone will contribute equally on the final project, although not necessarily in the same ways. A large portion of your grade on this project will be decided by how well you worked together to accomplish the goals set by the instructor and by your group.

Step 2- Sketch your idea
Step 3- Execute your plan to complete the illustration.
Step 4- Complete reflection activity.
Step 5- Take photograph of your artwork and submit the photograph and your reflection.

Reflection Activity
Complete two of the four activities using the correct art vocabulary. These should be completed digitally for each project. You need to do one of these for each project, they CAN be used more than once.
1. Just the Facts:
Write one complete sentence for each of these questions: On this project, what did I do really well? On this project, what did I struggle with? On this project, how did I apply what I learned about my artist?
2. New Perspective:
Write a paragraph from the perspective of the art material telling your artist how you were used, what you created and how it relates to the artist. Example: I am an oil pastel writing to tell Picasso that I was mixed with other oil pastel colors to create a portrait similar to his painting of lady in front of the mirror.
3. Art Critique:
Provide the essential information on your artist- name, place of birth, date of birth, date of death. Select one artwork, provide the details about the artwork. Write one or two sentences about what you like/dislike about the artwork and how it connects to your artwork.
4. Personal Connection:
Write a paragraph telling me why you chose the art material, the theme, and the artist you did. What about those things connected to you personally?
